Health Advocates Community Celebrates Nancy Houghton
Health Advocates members, partners, and supporters came out in full force to celebrate Nancy Houghton and her 23 years at the helm of the organization. Dedicated to the mission of promoting safe and healthy aging, during her tenure, she developed the agency’s comprehensive Healthy Aging Program and Living Better by Design; Home Safety and Fall Prevention Service.
At the event on March 15, held in Brick Church’s Watson Hall, 200 guests mingled, snapped photos with Nancy and learned more about her work and history with the organization from the organization’s Founding President Friedhilde Milburn, housing expert Joe Breed, and longtime community partner, Bill Dionne, CEO of Carter Burden Network.
Nancy was recognized with proclamations from Assembly Members Rebecca Seawright and Alex Bores and City Council Members Gale Brewer, Julie Menin and Keith Powers.
The event culminated in a champagne toast and an award from Health Advocates’ Board Chair, Gary Heinze.
Health Advocates greatly appreciates the volunteer committee, led by Nancy Ploeger with support from Betsy Timberman, Joie Anderson, Pat Girardi, Deborah Godlinger, Betty McKinley, and Joanna Cawley, that organized such a wonderful party as well as the volunteers from St. Vincent Ferrer and Regis High Schools that made this event such a success.
