Health Advocates Continues In-Person Classes Amidst the Pandemic

Aware of the excessive isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Health Advocates felt a need to restart our in-person classes in August.  We are now hosting a weekly Chair Yoga class every Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 404 East 87th Street.  The isolation imposed by COVID-19 has caused much suffering to our participants, including, lack of social contact, lethargy, and extreme loneliness.  Even with the pandemic it is important that we maintain a strong degree of social contact with our neighbors, friends, and family.  This can be done in-person, by phone or via Zoom.  It is an important part of maintaining our mental health.

Our weekly class is regularly well attended by 25 of are participants who are set up to maintain social distance to prevent any spread of the disease.  The participants are so grateful for this opportunity to get out and be amongst friends and neighbors and we look forward to providing more of such opportunities as the City reopens.

In the meantime, we strongly encourage all participants to follow the guidelines and continue attending our online classes.

We also have a weekly movie that we host every Saturday at The Church of The Holy Trinity at 341 East 87th Street from 12:30-2:30.

Together these activities provide a great combo to get out and intermingle with friends and neighbors.
